Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

Year 2 have had another busy week.  In English, we have continued our instruction writing.  The children have been learning about the features and have made a great start of writing their own.  The children have nearly completed their healthy recipe's for Mr Willy Wonka and will be edited and published next week!

In maths, the children have been learning about weighing and capacity.  They had lots of fun exploring different ingredients and working out how many grams / kilograms they would need to follow a recipe.  On Thursday, the children explored capacity and had lots of fun working with different sized containers to make a litre.  They showed great team work as they worked in their house teams to make estimations and carry out the capacity problem-solving tasks set by Mrs Buck.

In our topic, the children learned how to weave.   They did a marvellous job of this!  They referred back to their earlier designs of their chocolate bars from last week and weaved their designs using their chosen colours.  I have included a gallery below of their work.  They should be very proud of themselves.

In science, we are continuing with our learning about plants.  We have been exploring different seeds and observing how they grow in different environments.  The children have been enjoying caring for the plants.  Our outdoor garden is really coming along now, and the sunflowers are growing well.  We have also planted some wild flowers.  We like watching the changes over time.

Thank you year 2 for another wonderful week!
