Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

This week the children have enjoyed delving deeper into our Henry the Explorer Book.  As the children become more familiar with the story they have been able to show their reading detective skills!  We have been learning about literal and inferential statements in class.  The children were then able to write a good summary of the story to show their understanding of the text.

In maths, we have been learning about place value.  This means we can understand the value of numbers from 1-100.  The children have used this knowledge to sort a group of random 2-digit numbers and place them in order from the smallest to the biggest.

Thank you for the topic resources some of you have sent in to support our learning of Australia!  We have shared some fantastic stories, non-fiction books; toys and videos.  The children really are enjoying learning about the wonderful country and comparing it to our very own.  Year 2 have been looking at world maps to locate both countries and exploring how the countries are located within continents.  On Tuesday's lesson the children worked in groups to draw their own world maps on the playground.

Year 2 have a lot to be proud of this week.  It is their first full week back to school, and they have worked very hard!  I'm so pleased they are enjoying their new class and their learning.
