Term 1 - Into Africa
Term 1 – during this topic the children will discover the mysteries of the pyramids, covering significant questions such as: What are hieroglyphics and are they still used now? Who was Tutankhamun and what things would you see in Ancient Egypt? Allowing children to become archaeologists of knowledge, delving deep into all the treasures this historic gem has to offer. Our hook with a book is the wonderful 'Secrets of a Sun King' by Emma Carroll.
The Into Africa curriculum enthuses political undertones and exposes the children to learn about a range of different cultures. Our guided reading book ‘Journey to Jo’Burg,’ brings a zest to the children’s reading pallet, encouraging them to go on adventure outside the realms of their own playground.
Art is fundamental to this exploration and would not be complete without the vibrant works of Cheri Samba. His Contemporary style jumps of the page and shows how art can deliver both meaning and message.
