We have had a great first week back!  

In English, we started reading our new hook with a book - The Accidental Prime Minister by Tom McLauglin.  We are all already enjoying it!  It uses great humour!  Our new unit of learning in English is Discussion texts/Balanced arguments.  We started the week by analysing examples of these, and then together we planned and have started to create our own.  We look forward to continuing with these next week.

In mathematics, we have been learning LOTS about co-ordinates.  We have learnt how to TRANSLATE a shape from one position to another.  We have learnt how to REFLECT a shape in the x and y axis.  We have also learnt about the 4 quadrants on a grid, using positive and negative co-ordinates.

Our Topic this half-term continues to be 'Being Human'.  We are now moving on from the scientific part of this topic, to thinking about how parliament and our government protect our Human Rights.  This week we learnt what a 'democracy' means, plus we discussed the UK cabinet of MPs.
