Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

This week we have started to explore the features of instructions.  We discovered that a set of successful instructions include:

  • Imperative verbs
  • They must be in order
  • Adverbs
  • Diagrams / illustrations

Using those features we wrote instructions for Charlie Bucket, so he could get to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory successfully.

In maths, we have been using our known number facts to help us solve word problems.  The children were able to create number fact stories to show their confidence in their number bonds to 20 and beyond.  The children also learnt to find the difference between numbers by counting on to the next multiple of ten.  The children have made use of using their 100-bead string and their 100 squares to support their mastery of maths.

In our topic work, we have been exploring what makes un/healthy foods. The children helped to create grids to sort each food.   They were keen to identify what foods our bodies need to keep us healthy.  The children have been able to group foods according to their properties and list the benefits of having them in a balanced diet.  The children have also been challenging themselves during their lunchtimes to try new healthy foods.
