Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

This week we have been very busy indeed.  Here is a summary below of some of our learning:

English

In English the children have continued their learning about Calligrams (Shape Poetry).  This has been themed around our topic of the Great Fire of London.  I have been amazed by their ideas.  I will share their independent work with you next week.  They have all been able to include the following in their poems:

Maths

In maths this week we have been using our known number facts to find complements to the next 10.  I do recommend practising your bonds to 10, 20 and 100 at home frequently.  This will enable your child to access our lessons more easily.  We can then use this knowledge to make it easier adding 2-digit numbers together.

Computing

This week in computing the children loved exploring Google Earth to find Pudding Lane in London.  This was an exciting opportunity to explore how the city has changed from 1666 to present day.  The children explored paintings from 1666 and were able to make good comparisons about the past and present.

We also explored Scratch where we will start a new computing unit on Coding.  The children started to plan what their Sprite will look like.  This is an animated character like the cat below.  In time the children will be able to programme it to make it follow their instructions.

R.E- Books

This week we learnt that there are two parts of the Bible.  The Old Testament before Jesus; and the New Testament which was after Jesus was born.  The children then found out more information about the Gospel Stories we hear every Monday in assembly.

PSHE - Dreams and Goals.

Thank you for a lovely week Year 2.  Have a lovely weekend.
