This half term Year 6 will be learn about a variety of Natural Disasters. We will begin by reviewing their previous learning on Volcanoes (Year 5 topic), moving on to earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes and wildfires. We will be looking at the most devastating events in history, and be studying what causes these natural events to happen.
Please could you encourage your child to find newspaper articles about any natural disasters. Bring in the articles when possible. Thank you in advance.
As ever - this will be a very busy term for Year 6. As well as all of our exciting learning about Natural Disasters, we will continue to prepare the children for SATs, which will be happening WB 13th May. If you have any questions about how you can best support your child, or about SATs week itself, please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see Miss Crick.
We will be hoping to visit our local library each term. It is a fantastic resource which is unfortunately not used enough! So that your child can really benefit from these trips, it would be useful for them to have their own library card, giving them the opportunity to take books home. Please pick up an application form from your local library, or speak to Miss Fisher. The children will be advised when a library visit is due, so please ensure they bring their library card in to school on these days!
Thank you for your continued support.
