Catholic Academy

Pyenest Road, Harlow, Essex, CM19 4LU

Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

How do we operate?

St Luke’s is open 38 weeks each year.

We are open 5 days each week for 2 sessions, 8.45am-11.45am and 12.05pm-3.15pm. We are also offering more sessions for those who are entitled to 30 hours child-care provision. Please speak to a member of the office team (01279 423499) for more details.

We provide care and education for young children between the ages of 3 and 4.

The sessions are organised so that the children can choose from a range of activities and work under adult supervision. This will build up their ability to select and work through a task till its completion. The children are encouraged to take part in adult-led activities as well as opportunities to learn and explore independently through child- initiated learning.

Outdoor play is extremely important within each child’s learning and development and gives the children a very different experience from working inside. With this in mind, we will ensure that the children have outdoor play every day; please provide a pair of Wellington boots and a suitable coat for wet weather.

Snacks/Lunch

St Luke’s Nursery promotes healthy eating. We are aware that not everyone will feel hungry or thirsty at the same time so we offer a short  snack session at 10am and 2pm.

Parents/Carers who receive 30 hours funding for their child will need to provide them with a healthy packed lunch. Please note that due to allergies this must be nut and shellfish free.

To lesson the risk and spread of germs, we are asking parents to provide a reusable, named water bottle please. This will come in each day and go home each night and filled with water only please.

How Parents/Carers take part in Nursery

Nursery recognises Parents/Carers as the first and most important educators for their children. We feel that it is important to work together to get the most for the children in our care.
We ask that you help us by....

-Exchanging knowledge about your child’s needs, interests and progress with the staff.

-Promoting respect for each other and the equipment at school.

-Join us for community activities and events where we can share learning opportunities together.

-Building positive relationships with staff and other parents in the Nursery

-Contributing to your child’s learning journey through ’Tapestry’.

What is Tapestry?

It is difficult for Parents/Carers to not be a part of every moment of their child's day but Tapestry provides a wonderful insight into just that.

We provide the children with an ‘online learning journal’ through the platform of ‘Tapestry’ with observations, photos and videos. It provides an opportunity for Parents/Carers to see what their child is interested in and how their learning is developing. Parents can also comment and add
observations to their child’s learning journal, which helps us to build a picture of the child as a whole.
