Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

We have had an FABULOUS week in Year 6 this week!

In mathematics, we have been learning about finding the area of rectangles, triangles and parallelograms.  We have learnt the formula for working out the volume of cubes and cuboids, and we finished the week by looking at nets of 3D shapes, and using them to build the shapes.  We identified the number of faces, edges and vertices on the 3D shapes that we made.

In English this week, we continued reading 'Pig Heart Boy' but Malorie Blackman.  We began our Narrative Unit of work, thinking about different ways to open and story and identifying when we should start a new paragraph.  This will help us for when we begin to write stories next week.

Our Topic learning has been so exciting this week!  We got to dissect a pig's heart!!  Yes, it was a bit gross - however it was amazing to find parts such as the left and right ventricle and the aorta.  It was great!

This weekend we are taking part in the Big Birdwatch.  We will complete a survey where we will tally the different species of birds that we see in our local area.
