This half term we have been focussing on the Arctic and the Antarctic. We have been looking at the North and South poles and what types of animals live there. With some help from David Attenborough's 'Frozen Planet' we were able to explore some well-known and some not so well known Polar animals. We discovered the Woolly Bear Caterpillar, the Narwhal as well as lots of species of Penguin and of course the Polar Bear. We also learnt about the different types of living creatures that are on this planet. We were able to classify the animals we discovered into their correct groups; mammal, amphibian, reptile, bird and fish.

As well as classifying these animals we studied their lifecycles and their diets. We made habitats in boxes and we created chalk drawings of the Northern Lights. Image result for polar animals clip art

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Arctic Man this half term and he was able to show us fantastic models of some of the Polar animals we had been studying. He gave us some very interesting talks about the Polar regions as well as those animals that live there. On top of this he gave us a very special light show which emulated the Northern Lights, this was fantastic and the children had a great day.

Below you will find a copy of this half term's home learning menu.
