Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

Unsinkable

This half term Year Four have been studying the Titanic. We used the book 'Titanic... I was there' by Margi McAllister to understand the events that led to the sinking of the ship. This book helped us to write our own recounts about what happened and our other learning helped us to design our own dream ship. We then wrote persuasive letters and adverts for our ships. We had fun researching different passengers from different classes on the ship. We learnt that John Jacob Astor was the richest person on the ship and that Molly Brown was also a First Class passenger, who was actually born into a poor family.

We explored the different parts of the ship and imagined being different passengers. We discovered that the First Class parts of the ship included a gymnasium, Turkish baths, extravagant dining rooms and luxurious bedrooms. Third Class parts of the ships were very different however, compared to other ships of the time, the Titanic's Third Class was still the most luxurious with running hot water and electric lights in the cabins!

Using our knowledge of this historic event, we created our own poems imagining that we were either the Titanic or the iceberg. These fantastic poems can be seen on our class display along with some of the outstanding home learning that has been bought in! (More amazing home learning can be seen by clicking the tab to the side of this page)

Below you will find a copy of this half term's home learning menu.
